Information on the "Academic English Talent and Leadership Training Course" jointly organized by the EMI Teaching Resource Center and the English Academic Literacy Center of National Taiwan Normal University

1. The counselors in our school's English Academic Literacy Center provide writing advice in various subject areas for our university’s undergraduate students, master’s and doctoral students, administrative staff, and postdoctoral researchers. Professional academic English tutors need to participate in academic English literacy-related training and workshops to improve their ability to tutor students in academic English writing and speaking, provide consultation and advice, and write information and records related to tutoring students' achievements.
2. The EMI Teaching Resource Center of our school (hereinafter referred to as the Center), to train more professional academic English counselors, specially cooperates with the English Academic Literacy Center of our school from 10 am to 5 pm on June 27, 2024 (Thursday). Jiantan Youth Activity Center jointly organizes the "Academic English Talent and Leadership Training Course".
3. Training content: This training content covers both conceptual and practical parts. A 2-hour conceptual course, including the techniques and conventions of academic writing; a 4-hour practical course, including editing and reviewing of academic writing. Those who complete the training will be awarded the "Academic English Counselor Certification" jointly issued by our center and the English Academic Literacy Center. Students who obtain the certification will be qualified as reserve counselors of the English Academic Literacy Center of National Taiwan Normal University.
4. Registration conditions:
(1) Students currently studying in university departments or master's and doctoral programs or possessing a master's or doctoral degree, and possessing an English proficiency equivalent to CEFR B2 or above (refer to the CEFR language proficiency reference index).
(2) Those who have relevant experience in writing English academic papers and oral reports (experience in English academic writing teaching and tutoring is particularly preferred), have good communication and coordination skills and are interested in becoming an EMI teaching assistant or in counseling and consultation at the Academic Literacy Center.
