In response to the 2030 bilingual policy and internationalization needs, the EMI Teaching Resource Center of our school (hereinafter referred to as the Center) will handle the "EMI Teacher Training Course", "EMI Teacher Professional Community Subsidy Plan" and "EMI Talent and Leadership Course Plan" aims to promote the knowledge and ability development of EMI teachers and teaching assistants in various colleges and universities, hoping to achieve the purpose of increasing the capabilities of EMI teachers and teaching assistants, and to strengthen the EMI course teaching in each school through resource sharing, cooperation and exchanges. the results.
2. The project targets that this center will handle include teachers and students: for teachers, it includes the "EMI Teacher Training Course" and "EMI Teacher Professional Community Subsidy Plan", and for students, it is the "EMI Talent and Leadership Course Plan". The explanation is as follows:
(1) "EMI Teacher Training Course":
1. This project aims to train teachers to teach subject content in English and strengthen EMI teaching practice. For teachers from colleges and universities who intend to offer EMI courses in the 2024 academic year, this center combines EMI teaching design and AI technology applications, invites domestic and foreign EMI expert teachers to teach, and presents training results through EMI teaching demonstrations. It is hoped that through the "EMI Teacher Training Course", we can promote the knowledge and ability development of EMI teachers in various colleges and universities and achieve the goal of increasing the capabilities of EMI teachers.
2. The course includes four modules, namely EMI teaching environment (12 hours), EMI teaching method (12 hours), EMI cross-cultural communication (6 hours) and EMI teaching demonstration (6 hours), totaling 36 hours. Current course period: Those who have completed the course for 36 hours from September 19, 2024 (Thursday) to November 29, 2024 (Friday) will be awarded the "EMI Teaching Enhancement Course" issued by our center. (2) "EMI Teacher Professional Community Subsidy Plan":
1. Teachers who have EMI teaching experience or are willing to teach with EMI in the future can apply for the EMI teacher professional community subsidy. Each teacher is limited to participating in one community. The community must plan and implement community activities in accordance with the regulations, and physically participate in the results presentation meeting. The center will assist community members in organizing public observation sessions, conduct teaching demonstrations, and invite EMI-related personnel to participate in discussions.
2. The community recommends that a person with EMI teaching experience or an EMI certificate issued by the center apply as the convener, who will be responsible for coordinating, planning, contacting, and compiling the results of the teacher community. The number and amount of subsidies depend on the current year’s budget and application materials.
(3) "EMI Talent and Leadership Course Plan":
1. Our center organizes the "Academic English Talent and Leadership Course" and welcomes students from university departments and graduate schools in various colleges and universities, as well as those who are interested in serving as EMI teaching assistants (TA) or writing center counselors to sign up. This course invites EMI experts and academic English talents as lecturers, and conducts "EMI Basic Ability Training Course" and "Academic English Counselor Training Course" both physically and online, allowing students to comprehensively learn EMI regardless of geographical location. 2. The course includes seven physical courses (can be participated online) and two online courses, each class is of different lengths.
